Ultrasonography
We are proud to be able to offer in-house ultrasonographic services to our clients under the direction of Dr. Angelique Cucaro. Dr. Cucaro is a general practioner and completed a prestigious Donald G. Low-CVMA Practitioner Fellowship with the UC Davis Small Animal Abdominal Ultrasound Service. Dr. Ilana Strubel and Dr. Rachael Feigenbaum are also experienced in ultrasonographic technique.
Ultrasounds (or sonograms) offer a non-invasive, non-painful method for diagnosing many diseases. Ultrasonography allows us to visualize internal structures and screen for internal abnormalities such as nodules, masses, cysts, and abscesses.
The ultrasound is also an invaluable tool in the diagnosis of heart disease. Real time echocardiography (ultrasound examination of the heart) allows us to see the heart in motion. From these images, measurements can be made of cardiac contractility, wall thickness, blood flow dynamics, and valvular integrity. We are pleased to work with board-certified Veterinary Radiologists to perform on-site cardiac ultrasounds for our patients.
Radiology
Radiographs (X-Rays) are essential for diagnosing certain medical and surgical problems. We are often able to take radiographs as part of an outpatient examination. In some cases, it may be necessary to admit a patient for radiographs to be taken under anesthesia, or to perform multi-view contrast studies. Our veterinarians conduct a bi-weekly rounds session with a board-certified Veterinary Radiologist, during which radiographs may be reviewed by the specialist.
